Use this for text you want to put inside a link, such as a search term. Spaces become %20, and symbols such as & are encoded too. Don’t encode a whole website address: this also changes its slashes and separators.
What is the difference between the two modes?
Under Spaces in the result, “%20 · usual URL format” writes spaces as %20 and leaves + unchanged when decoding. “+ · form values” writes spaces as + and reads + as a space when decoding. Both encode a literal plus sign as %2B.
Why does decoding sometimes fail?
The encoded text may be incomplete. For example, %20 is valid but %2 is not. Check that you copied the whole value. Text saved with an unsupported character encoding can also fail.
Does it decode more than once?
No. Each pass decodes one layer. For example, %2520 becomes %20. Choose Replace my text to decode again only if you need another pass.
File limits & shortcuts
