What does Base64 do?
Base64 represents data as text for apps that require it. For example, encoding Hello produces SGVsbG8=; decoding it returns Hello. It is not encryption: anyone can decode it.
Standard or URL-safe Base64?
Standard Base64 uses + and / and may end with = padding. The URL-safe variant replaces those characters with - and _; this tool omits its padding. Choose the variant expected by the receiving system.
Can I decode a file or image?
This tool reads Base64 that contains text, saved as UTF-8. It cannot turn an encoded image or ZIP into a downloadable file.
Can I paste wrapped or unpadded Base64?
Yes. Whitespace is ignored while decoding, and omitted padding is accepted when the encoded length is valid. Invalid characters or malformed padding produce an error.
