A photo can carry a camera model, capture date, location, author, editing history or embedded thumbnail. Choose an image to inspect readable details. Many pictures shared through messaging apps already have some of these removed.

Remove details without re-compressing.

Removal strips EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments and other nonessential attached data. The compressed picture data stays unchanged. The small orientation tag needed to keep a photo upright is retained, along with essential image settings. Your original stays unchanged.

Does this remove every identifying detail?

No. It removes attached metadata sections, not information visible in the picture, the download’s filename or anything hidden inside the picture pixels. Check the picture and rename the download if needed. The optional color profile may itself contain a creator or copyright field.

Which details can I view?

The viewer reads common EXIF, GPS, XMP and IPTC fields. It also reports other attached metadata sections, even when their individual fields cannot be displayed. Proprietary camera details and some PNG text may not be decoded. An empty list does not prove that the picture contains no identifying information.

Which images are supported?

Use a still JPG, PNG or WebP up to 25 MB and 24 million pixels. Animation, RAW and HEIC files are not supported here. Convert a HEIC photo first if you need a shareable JPG or PNG. Removing a color profile may change appearance in color-managed apps.
